late weekend report kings and bottom fishing 3/25

We headed out CB inlet around 6:30 saturday morning in search of 68* water and hopefully some king mackerels. i knew the warm water was going to be out a little past the tower after checking my SST ap on friday night. Finally hit 67.8* water and put out a #5 squid spoon on the planer rod and a few cigars on mac a hoos. There was a little bait over the ledge and we managed 1 king and 2 false albacores. I felt like the water was a touch too cool so I pushed on off to a spot just northeast of the tower were i found 72* water and a ledge that was lit up on the bottom machine. I put the spread back out and picked up one king mackerel in about an hour so we switched gears, set the anchor and started bottom fishing. The current was ripping pretty good and we picked up several jumbo sea bass and a couple almaco jacks were released as well. I decided to head back inshore about 15 miles to some bottom and when we got there it was non stop big black sea bass, pinkies, triggers, a few gag groupers and 7 American Red Snappers (amazing since there aren't any of them out there). All of groupers and ARS were vented and released. Surprisingly all the king and bonito bites came all on the cigar minnow/ mac a hoos and nothing touched the spoon.
